And on the Seventh Day…..We Share Shabbat! As the sun sets today, Congregation Beth Emeth members will gather in each other’s homes to welcome Shabbat together. In the Jewish tradition, Shabbat is set aside for quality time with family and friends to connect and reflect, share and enjoy. This is the concept behind our new Sharing Shabbat initiative. Modeled after similar successful programs at congregations across the country, Sharing Shabbat will provide an opportunity for members to gather outside of Beth Emeth and strengthen our community one Shabbat dinner at a time. What we need now is to hear from you. Let us know how you would like to participate, as a host of guest. We’ll do the matching. All host families will receive a Challah and a Sharing Shabbat guide with blessings (Hebrew, transliteration and English) along with some suggestions to make hosting easier. Dinner is up to the host – traditional roast chicken in the dining room or takeout in the kitchen and everything in between. What makes it Shabbat isn't the specific meal it is reciting the blessings and sharing the evening with friends - new and old. CLICK HERE to register to be a HOST.
